Preparing students to receive Jesus Christ and share the good news with others is a vital part of our core values at SJCS. Each year, we dedicate a week in February to missions-focused activities, instruction, and outreach. The week includes daily chapels, special classroom speakers, and various opportunities to participate in a school-wide missions offering. Over the years, students have studied and raised money to meet a variety of needs, from those of our local food pantry and pregnancy resource clinic to a Native American school, a Jesus Film mission trip to Afghanistan, and a clean drinking water well at Kind-Hearts School, Ethiopia.
This year, we will focus our study on what we can learn from the Seven Churches of Revelation about making Jesus Priority ONE, understanding that when Jesus is elevated in our lives, we can’t help but desire to make Him known to others. We’ve chosen to partner with Lifeline Christian Mission to use our missions offering to fund a meal packing event, right here in our gym! All our staff and students will work together to pack 50,000 meals which will be sent to feed the hungry in Haiti! We consider the development of our students’ hearts for missions, both at home and abroad, one of the Lord’s dearest accomplishments through us.
