At St. Joseph Christian School, we are a community of people: teachers, administrators, parents and students. Like any other community group, we will experience times of disagreements and misunderstandings. As followers of Christ, we strive to deal with problems and concerns in a Christ-like manner in the pursuit of harmony and unity.

Disagreements with other parents, teachers and administrators are handled according to the provision in Matthew 18:15‑17:

“If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church.”

Matthew 18:15-17

These biblical steps for addressing problems/ concerns at SJCS are listed below:

  1. First, the parent meets one-on-one with the person with whom they disagree. Refraining from sharing the concern with others, both parties are encouraged to take their concerns to the Lord in prayer, asking for wisdom in seeking a resolution.
  2. If in the first conversation, it becomes apparent that the two individuals are not able to resolve the issue, a meeting can be set up with one or two members of the administration.
  3. If a resolution still cannot be reached, a parent can email the SJCS School Board Chairman, communicating the steps that have been taken and the desired outcome. The Chairman will discuss the matter with the Superintendent and together they will decide how to respond.Depending on the nature of the conflict, the Board Chairman may request that all parties be present at an upcoming school board meeting. The goals of this high level meeting include:
    • A clear understanding of the problem
    • Reaching a resolution
    • Reproof and correction, if appropriate
    • Forgiveness and complete restoration among all involved

In summary, SJCS is committed to resolving differences in a biblical way that seeks restoration, requiring a prayerful pursuit of the good of others. Our commitment to the principles of Matthew 18 equip us to resolve conflicts without destroying the harmony and fellowship of the community at SJCS.
