The foundation of campus life at St. Joseph Christian School is the healthy spiritual formation of each student. From pre-K to our graduating seniors, every classroom lesson and extracurricular activity is focused on a desire to see students grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. Students are encouraged to learn and form connections with peers, teachers and administrators, all through the lens of spiritual growth.

There are several ways in which SJCS creates opportunities for students to grow in their faith:

Bible

Reading the Bible

The entire academic program at SJCS rests on the study of God’s Word. The school’s mission is to provide students with an education based on a biblical foundation. The Bible is treated both as a textbook and as the living Word, equipping students to know and serve Christ, loving Him with all their heart, mind and strength. SJCS teaches students to examine and view everything they learn through the lens of God’s Word.

Chapel

Held once each week, SJCS chapel welcomes parents and friends to join us. A student chapel team works with faculty, local pastors and spiritual leaders in the community to plan these services. Important student roles include facilitating worship through music, supporting the service through technology and set-up and tear-down teams.

Community Service

SJCS holds community service as a core value, and it is encouraged and supported throughout a student’s enrollment at our school. Community service helps meet the practical needs of others while growing our students in compassion, humility and selflessness.

Student in grades K-6 have the opportunity to participate in at least one service-focused field trip each school year.

High school students are required to participate in community service as a part of their graduation requirements. While some of the required hours may be completed through school-organized service opportunities, the majority of the hours will be served independently and outside of normal school hours.

Small Groups

Small Group

Small groups at SJCS provide students with a way to study God’s Word and grow in prayer. As they develop into friendships, these small groups offer a natural setting for deeper study, accountability and spiritual growth. Led by a teacher or administrator paired with an upper-class student, small groups at SJCS are a vital part of the school experience.

“At SJCS the students that live out their faith inspire me to act on my faith as well.”
