The safety of our students and staff is a priority and we frequently review our policies and procedures with the welfare of our families in mind. While we cannot prepare for every possibility, our students and staff practice emergency drills regularly to help them be prepared for different situations.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 20:7

General Safety Guidelines

  • Students are not allowed to leave the school building without permission during school hours.
  • We perform safety drills on a regular basis to train students and staff in procedures to follow in case of an emergency.
  • In the event of a campus evacuation, students will be relocated to an alternate safe site and parents will be notified when and where to pick up their children once everyone is safely relocated.
  • We ask parents not to try to contact your student or the school if you hear there is an emergency. The school phone lines will be reserved for communicating with emergency personnel. Please pray and wait – the school will contact parents as soon as possible.
  • SJCS administration will cooperate with local emergency management personnel in an emergency.

Building Security

  • We have several safety features in place to help protect students and staff on campus.
  • Lockdown: Our building is locked down continually throughout the school day.
  • Cameras/security receptionist: We have over 60 cameras throughout our campus (inside and out). These cameras are constantly on view in the office of the security receptionist, which is protected by a bulletproof door. This allows the receptionist to screen visitors, monitor campus activity, and give precise directions about activity over the intercom in the event of an emergency.
  • Limited, screened admittance:  Visitors may only enter at the main school door.  The security receptionist will admit visitors who have a legitimate reason to be on campus into the security vestibule. Visitors cannot proceed past this area unless they submit their driver’s license for a background screening.
  • Bullet-resistant film:  All exterior doors/windows and critical interior windows are covered with a bullet-resistant film designed to significantly slow down an armed intruder.
  • Armed personnel:  We have armed personnel on campus who have been highly trained to respond to any threat and coordinate with law enforcement.
