Partnering With Families at St. Joseph Christian School
St. Joseph Christian School thrives on the foundation of a collaborative partnership between dedicated Christian educators and the families we serve. United in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, SJCS is committed to provide an education rooted in a biblical worldview to prepare students to impact their world for Him.
Our school fosters a strong sense of community through a wide range of opportunities, creating an environment where families are actively involved in supporting and enhancing the educational experience.
Volunteering
At SJCS, we recognize that parents play a vital role in helping fulfill our mission to equip students to impact their world for Christ. We warmly invite parents to actively engage in the school community, offering their unique spiritual gifts, talents, and time. Parents can learn about volunteer opportunities in the school’s weekly email, the Lions’ Loop, in teachers’ Friday letters, and through the Volunteer Coordinator. To strengthen our collective mission, each family is required to contribute a minimum of 20 volunteer hours annually, which may be fulfilled in various ways:
- Working at the gate or concessions during athletic events
- Assisting with building maintenance
- Providing classroom support (e.g., designing bulletin boards, chaperoning field trips)
- Serving on the Fine Arts Committee
- Supporting fundraising efforts or the Faith Promise Fund
- Reading to students or helping in the library
- Participating in the Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF)
- Organizing or volunteering at school-wide events
Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF)
Every parent is a member of the SJCS Parent Teacher Fellowship. The PTF is entirely parent-driven and seeks to support our students and staff throughout the year. When parents contribute their talents and time to serve in the PTF, they help strengthen our school community and deepen the connection between families and the school. Here are some of the ways the PTF supports our school:
- Back to School Night
- Recruiting room parents
- Operating the lunch program
- Spirit Cart (providing snacks and beverages for teachers and staff)
- The Blessing Tree
- Spirit Nights
- Staff Appreciation
Grandparents’ Day
In late September, SJCS invites grandparents to join their grandchildren in Kindergarten through 6th grade for a special day of celebration. This cherished tradition is announced annually through the Lions’ Loop and provides grandparents with a unique opportunity to participate in the SJCS experience alongside their grandchildren.
Parent Information and Encouragement (P.I.E.) Nights
P.I.E. Nights are designed to encourage parents and equip them to help their children on their educational journey. P.I.E. nights provide an opportunity to learn new parenting skills, fellowship with other SJCS parents, and, of course, enjoy some pie! Parents can earn volunteer hours for attending and childcare is available.
“Jesus is the center of everything that is done at SJCS. God’s Word is the foundation for everything that is taught to our children. The staff and administration care about our children and the families love and encourage the staff. There are many opportunities to come together and pray for our students and school. We celebrate together in the great things God is doing at the school, but also pray for and encourage those families going through difficult times.”
Ryan and Jeanne Walker
“We are so grateful that our daughter Sarah could attend SJCS to get a Christian Education. Now we are excited and grateful that Sarah’s three children are getting to attend SJCS. We praise God for this.”
Tom and Sharon Armstrong
“More than anything else, we desire that our kids have every opportunity to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. While the responsibility to introduce them to God falls on us as parents, we love how the school partners with us by continuing to teach and model the Gospel during school hours.”
